In a world catered to instant gratification, purchasing a disposable camera on my recent trip to San Diego helped me live in the moment and capture memories.
There’s a process and a mystery to shooting film. You have zero idea what the photo looks like, what it’s going to look like or if your finger was on the lens (guilty of that last one).
With film, you can’t dissect the photo right after it’s taken, there’s less pressure for the perfect shot. I have a tendency to be critical on myself but I’m far more accepting of myself with film, perhaps it’s the anticipation of seeing the photos. It’s less about me and more about the moment.
I’m so grateful to have been part of another trip to Coronado Island in San Diego, and to stay at the Del Coronado Hotel. Here’s a short gallery of some trip highlights – like losing my In-N-Out V card, Old San Diego, and Point Loma.
With love – EM
