Hotel for the best value in Manhattan
YO, I think I know where you’re going to stay next time you’re in Manhattan.
On the corner of Broadway and 50th St. you’ll find the CitizenM resting between NYC architecture in all its Dutch designed glory. It’s modern and eye catching. The walls are filled with thoughtful ‘”nick nacks” and exaggerated decor. Pops of color balance out the black colored wood and furniture. The hotel makes you feel like you’re on vacation – even if you’re in a familiar city. Besides the maid service, food, and bartending – you’re given the control. You check yourself in and do your thing.
Even the elevator was cool.
The rooms are simplified in the best way possible – just an XL Large bed against a wall length window. Everything is iPad controlled – including the color of the room…. I know… once again, so cool.
Purple was our color of choice.
Falling asleep to the city lights and waking up in skyscraper shadows was glorious. Also, the temperature of the room was perfect – I like a chilled room when I sleep so I can cocoon myself in the blankets. If a cold room isn’t your jam, you can adjust the temp.
When you reserve a room you’re given a secret message to tell the bartender for a free drink. I can’t express to you how excited my boyfriend was to do that. CitizenM has a beautiful rooftop bar with indoor and outdoor seating. We got both our drinks for free, both very good, and our bartender was awesome. We enjoyed happy hour with bar snacks and an unforgettable view.
The outdoor rooftop. Obviously had Chris take picture but the wind wasn’t having it.
We bopped around that night using all the NYC recommendations CitizenM offers you on the iPad. We had pizza at the B Side and ran across the street for a night cap. Everything was in walking distance.
I’m always really sad to leave NY. That morning we grabbed a quick breakfast with the recommendation from the guy at the front desk. Really good coffee – and I work for a coffee roaster so I have a genuine opinion. Then we were off. Only 2 months now until we call NYC home. THANK GOD.
Also, shout out to our Uber driver for being amazing and telling us everything he possible could in the 10 minutes he had with us including “perfection is boring” as we walked off. I couldn’t have asked for a better anniversary with my love.
