Besides being an unbelievable boyfriend (shout out, holla’) my boyfriend Chris also comes with an awesome family who so graciously brought me along with them to Coronado, San Diego for the Coronado Film Festival. We stayed at the Hotel Del Coronado. Needless to say, I’m pretty freakin’ lucky.
The Del is a Dream. Built during the Victorian Era and unlike many luxury hotels of it’s time, survived the turn of the century, multiple wars, and the depression thanks to one investor who believed in the magic that is the Del Coronado.
Chris’s last name is Lemmon and if you’re familiar with that name you’d know he shares his genes with the late, great Jack Lemmon. He starred in many movies but the one that brought us to the Del Coronado was ‘Some Like it Hot’ in which he starred along side Marilyn Monroe and Tony Curtis. The Hotel Del Coronado was the films backdrop.
Chris, and with the help of the Hotel Staff, gifted me this large book that inside holds a copy of the script, behind the scene photos, interviews and more. My little treasure.
The Del Coronado put us up in the most beautiful suite I’ve ever stayed in and treated us so generously. I can honestly say, The Del is my favorite hotel in the world. It has luxurious charm, and a preservation of more glamorous times. I never wanted to leave.
Chris’s father performed his one man show, Twist of Lemmon during the course of the weekend and it was a hit (note the pale green cashmere ensemble below, just YAS.)
Thank you Lemmons and especially, thank you Jack. If it wasn’t for you the world would be less bright without the incredible people you created and the lives you entertained.
